The district Marxloh is deemed to be a little bit ill-reputed. In some areas it´s legitimate but definitely not in the Weseler Straße! To tell the truth, the district is not the Highlight of Duisburg but if you´re living anyway in the City, it´s interesting to visit this street one or two times.
Germany is a country, which is still dominated by cash payments. You will be able to pay cash in all shops or ticket machines. You find ATMs in all main train stations and all airports and in all branch banks, which are spread around the city.
In Germany there are a lot of different supermarket chains. Some of them offer high quality products for higher prices, others operate as discounters. The latter, of course, is more attractive for students who usually do not have large amounts of money to spend on groceries.
